KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — The Federal Islamic Religious Department (Jakim) today unveiled a halal consumer application on Android devices called SmartHalal.

The application is designed to assist consumers in checking the halal status of food and beverage products, food premises, slaughterhouses, consumables, cosmetics and pharmaceutical products and halal-certified logistic services by the Malaysian Halal Certification.

The app can be downloaded on Google Playstore and users can also link the app to their Facebook or Google accounts.

On the loading page, users will find a notification at the bottom of the screen stating the nearest halal certified business premises with a 5km radius, in a side scrolling bar.
