KUALA LUMPUR, June 6 — Television presenter Azizul Ammar Abu Hassan was charged today with provocation over his alleged mockery of former national sprinter Watson Nyambek's father.

Producer Abdul Ghani Mohd Mokhtar, 41, was charged along with Azizul, 50, at the Sibu magistrates' court under Section 504 of the Penal Code that covers intentional insults that cause a breach of the peace, according to the Star Online news portal.

Both men are each liable for up to two years' imprisonment if convicted, and were released on bail at RM3,500.

In a segment of the “Sukan Tak Sentral” comedy programme in April, Azizul made bleating noises when pronouncing “Nyambek,” the name of Watson's father.

Azizul and the show's producers later apologised, but Watson still lodged a police report over the incident.
