GEORGE TOWN, March 9 — The grandson of prominent philanthropist and former Penang MIC chief Datuk N.T.S Arumugam Pillai was charged in the Sessions Court yesterday with falsifying his grandfather’s will 27 years ago. 

Businessman Datuk N. Vasantharajan, 52, was charged with committing the offence on June 26, 1990 at the Penang High Court.

Vasantharajan is also the Penang Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman.

He was charged under Section 471 of the Penal Code which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years or fine upon conviction. 

Judge Irwan Suaibon set bail of RM50,000  and fixed April 10 for case mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Lim Saw Sim prosecuted while Dave Kumarendran and Datuk N. Gopalakrishnan represented Vasantharaj.
