KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 — Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) Berhad will conduct trial runs for its commuter service on two routes from Dec 15.

The trial runs will be for the Tanjung Malim-Rawang line to Port Klang and Batu Caves to the Seremban/Gemas line.

In a statement issued here today, KTM Berhad said the new routes were in preparation for the Klang Valley Double Tracking (KVDT) Infrastructure Upgrading project which begins in April 2016.

“The project under the National Key Result Areas is aimed at increasing the capacity and ensuring the sustainability of KTM Komuter service as a mobility choice in the Klang Valley,” it said.

The statement also said the trial runs had the consent of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) and would be implemented for six months to study the impact on passenger flow in the KVDT sector. — Bernama
