KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 16 — With a view to rebranding itself, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is proposing a name-change to ‘My PPP’ with the letters PPP referring to ‘Peace’, ‘Progressive’ and ‘Prosperity’.

Its president, Tan Sri M. Kayveas said the party would hold an emergency meeting next month to obtain the agreement and support of the grassroots for the change in name and logo.

“Once we get the agreement of the party members, the change would be submitted to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) for approval,” he told reporters after chairing a PPP Supreme Council meeting at the party headquarters here today.

He said the effort was aimed at injecting new spirit into PPP members in preparation for the 14th General Election.

He added that the party would be holding its 62nd annual general meeting on Dec 13, at the Putra World Trade Centre.

Meanwhile, Kayveas also said the PPP would organise its first Deepavali open house on Nov 10, in Brickfields here.

He said the event was being held as more than 50 per cent of PPP members were from the Indian community.

Asked to comment on the recent hike in toll fares, Kayveas who is also Special Advisor to the Transport Minister said the public should not be emotional but should understand the national and global economy. — Bernama
