KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 30 — The Bar Council said today its emergency phone number for those who find themselves arrested over the on-going Bersih 4 has been “hacked” by unknown attackers, just a day after rally organiser Bersih 2.0 fell victim to the stunt.
According to the Bar Council, one of its two phone numbers belonging to its team of volunteer lawyers is now sending out fake text messages.
“We believe that one of the two mobile numbers, 011-1214 0877, has been compromised or hacked, and is sending out SMSes that are not from the Bar Council Urgent Arrest Team,” it said in a statement today.
“In the event of an arrest, please s end a SMS to our 018-321 1506 number only,” it said.
Yesterday, rally organiser Bersih 2.0 said two of the three mobile numbers of its own Urgent Arrest Team had been hacked and were sending out messages inciting hatred.
