KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Confederation of Malaysian NGOs chairman Datuk Jamal Md Yunos today claimed that he had strong evidence that the Bersih 4.0 participants had been paid to attend the rally next week through a RM30 million fund.

He said the existence of the fund was disclosed by 37 youths who admitted to have been receiving money from a number of politicians and businessmen as their pocket money to join the rally.

“They (37 youths) had approached me on Friday and admitted that they had been paid RM100 each for the deposit and the remaining RM300 will be paid later.

“The payment was made on the condition that they need to be at the Dataran Merdeka for two days and will be fed four times a day as well as given free transport,” he told reporters after lodging a police report over that matter at the Dang Wangi District Police headquarters here today.
