SANDAKAN, May 11 ― A man was killed while three others were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in skidded and crashed into the metal petrol pump protector at Jalan Prayer, here last night.
Sandakan police chief, ACP Zabidi Md Zain said in the 9.45 pm incident, Heddriawan Awang, 27, who was driving the Proton Iswara died at the scene.
Initial investigation found that the car, in which the victims were travelling, collided with another vehicle before skidding and crashing into the metal protector, Zabidi said here today.
He said the three victims who were seriously injured consisted of two men and a woman in their 20s who received medical treatment at the Duchess of Kent Hospital, Sandakan and reported to be in stable condition.
Zabidi said the other vehicle's registration number could not be identified as it was believed to have sped away from the scene of the crash.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1)(a) of the Road Transport Act 1987. ― Bernama
