BESUT, April 25 — Terengganu police have detained a suspect who was on the wanted list in Kelantan for murder case two years ago.
State CID chief ACP Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah said the 31-year-old suspect was arrested at about 5.30am this morning in Kampung Amir.
The suspect who was driving a Proton Exora had earlier attempted to escape arrest by speeding off when approached by two Mobile Patrol Vehicle (MPV) officers in Jabi Jerteh, he said.
“As soon as he was ordered to present his identity card and step out of the vehicle, he sped off instead but was nabbed not far away,” he told reporters here today.
He said upon inspecting the vehicle, police recovered 150 live bullets in three boxes, a small axe and a knife.
Police also seized 20 pills believed to be drugs, drug-smoking utensils, the suspect’s international passport and RM900 cash.
According to him, the individual from Besut was wanted by police as the main suspect in a 2013 murder of a man in Kampung Gong Mengkeleh, Jalan Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.
Wan Aziz said the suspect was remanded for further investigations. — Bernama
