KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 — Ikatan Muslimin Malaysia (Isma) should stop using religion and race as a crutch to pit Malays against the DAP and cause public confusion, Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud said today.

The DAP Youth (Dapsy) leader said her party’s visit to the Middle East a few days ago had rattled Isma’s Egypt chapter — who had claimed the visit was a facade for DAP’s “evil agenda” to erode the identity of Muslims and that the secular opposition party had consistently fought against the position of Islam and Malays in Malaysia

“The delusional Isma directly accused the DAP of eroding the faith of Malay-Muslims, confusing the public and so on. It is Isma which is trying to destroy the fabric of Malaysians by confusing people with lies, baseless accusations using the name of religion and race,” Dyana said in a statement here.

She said that it is perfectly normal for elected lawmakers to meet up with students from any part of the world, regardless of political affiliation.

“Isma is carrying the same tone by saying that youths are easily manipulated, enchanted, and baited.

“Does Isma think that youths, including students in Egypt, Malay-Muslims are less smart, easily baited and unable to differentiate between good or bad?” Dyana asked.

“As long as Malaysians are united and respect one another regardless of skin colour and religion, we will remain strong.

“Malaysia does not need parties who want to destroy a life of harmony,” the DAP leader said.
