PETALING JAYA, April 9 — Ang Hun Mung, 66, fought back after a robber broke into his house at Jalan 17/48 here on Tuesday. He held on to his bag tightly, not wanting to let it go.
Minutes after the robber sped off on a motorcycle, Ang collapsed and died.
Ang came out of his house at about 6.15pm after hearing noises from the house next door, which also belongs to him. As he walked out towards the neighbouring house, Ang saw a man climbing out.
Before Ang could react, the man, believed to be in his 20s, pounced on him and grabbed the bag Ang was holding.
Ang held on to it, refusing to let go. The suspect than pushed him and sped off while Ang collapsed and died.
Selangor CID chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said Ang’s neighbours rushed to his aid but it was too late.
“Police obtained footage from closed-circuit TV cameras from the house for investigations,” he said.
“His body was taken to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre.”
Mohd Adnan said a post-mortem found the victim died from a heart attack.
“He had no injuries apart from some scratches on the knee.”
A manhunt has been launched for the suspect.
