KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 — The federal government managed the country ably last year despite the two Malaysia Airlines tragedies and a floods crisis, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah said today.

In his royal address at the opening of the year’s first parliamentary session, Tuanku Abdul Halim said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak showed true leadership by handling these challenges professionally.

“The government had done their best in 2014 in aspects of economy and administrative management of the country. It has been consistent under the leadership of the prime minister,” the Agong said.

“We were tested with the tragedies of Flight MH370 and Flight MH17 as well as an extraordinary floods crisis,” Sultan Abdul Halim added.
