KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has given the assurance the policeman who had allegedly sexually harassed, extorted and raped a private college student will not be protected by the force.
“He will face the full brunt of the law if he is found guilty and we are not going to protect him.
“We are not wasting any time and the investigation team is in the midst of compiling all evidence related to the case,” he said yesterday.
He said once investigations have been finalised, the investigation papers will be submitted to the Attorney-General Chambers to decide on the next course of action.
“If he (the policeman) is charged in court, the force will also conduct an internal investigation,” Khalid said after launching a smart library at the Police College in Cheras courtesy of Samsung Electronics Sdn Bhd yesterday.
He also said the remand order for the 30-year-old Lance Corporal will end tomorrow.
Another suspect who was initially detained, also a Lance Corporal, had been released on bail on Tuesday.
Malay Mail had on Monday front-paged the alleged incident after the victim lodged a police report on Jan 26.
The two police officers on patrol had nabbed the teenager and her boyfriend who were having sex in the car in Section 10, Kota Damansara.
The couple’s pleas to be released with only a verbal warning over indecent behaviour were ignored and the couple were put into separate vehicles.
When the girl continued to beg for her release, the policeman who was with her demanded RM2,000. Upon agreeing to the sum, the policeman added an extra condition — for her to have sex with him — but she refused.
Both policemen pulled over before reaching the police station and allowed the couple to go but took down their personal details.
An hour later, the student who was at her hostel in Kota Damansara, received a call from the same officer who had earlier demanded sex from her.
The officer turned up at her hostel, forced her to get into his car, then drove towards a nearby shopping mall and parked his car at a secluded area.
He then blackmailed her and told her to perform oral sex on him otherwise he would inform her parents of what she did earlier and also threatened to take her to the police.
The student gave in and while she was performing the act, the policeman panicked and then took her to a male toilet in the mall and raped her.
He also forced her to withdraw RM500 from an ATM inside the mall and then left her there.
The policemen kept calling her over the next few days, demanding sex and the victim finally decided to lodge a police report over the matter.
