KUCHING, Feb 1 — All the 60 flood victims from 13 families in two relief centres in Miri and Bintulu have returned home this afternoon.
Previously 24 victims were placed at the relief centre in Sebauh Community Hall, Bintulu and another 36 in Beluru Community Hall, Bakong, Miri.
A Sarawak National Security Council (MSC) spokesman said the victims began returning home at 2 pm after the relevant authorities confirmed their houses were safe to be occupied after the flood waters receded completely.
However, he said one new relief centre was opened in Tadika Ceria Nanga Maras Budu, Saratok in Betong this afternoon.
“A total of 75 victims, involving eight families from Rumah Ali Kerangan Tinggi, Ulu Krian, have started to be evacuated to the relief centre since 3.30 pm,” he told Bernama. — Bernama
