KEPALA BATAS, Feb 1 — The body of a man, believed a foreigner, was found properly wrapped in black plastic in a bush near an oil palm plantation in Kubang Menerong, Tasek Gelugor here today.
Seberang Perai Utara police chief ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim said the body was found at 3.30pm by a passer-by who also said that the body smelt like it had been poured with rose water.
“Also found was a piece of paper that read ‘Assalamualaikum, nama saya Farouk, saya Muslim, saya mahu sembahyang dulu’ (Assalamualaikum, my name is Farouk, I’m a Muslim, I want to pray first),” Abdul Rahman told Bernama when contacted here.
However, he said no identification document was found on the body. Abdul Rahman said initial investigation found neither wounds nor bruises on the body, but further investigation was being done to ascertain the actual cause of death.
The body was taken to Kepala Batas Hospital for post mortem. Public with information about the case are requested to contact the nearest police station to facilitate in the investigation. — Bernama
