KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 10 — The number of flood victims continues to go up in Johor this morning with 145 people in Segamat being placed at flood relief centres compared to 130 last night.

Meanwhile, the number of flood victims in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan continue to drop compared to last night, but the figure is unchanged in Terengganu.

Thus, the number of victims moved to relief centres nationwide had dropped to 16,187 people from 17,719 victims last night.

In Johor, the State Disaster Operations Control Centre said 32 villagers from Mukim Gemerah were moved to the Kampung Batu Badak community hall and 91 from Mukim Labis shifted to the Kampung Segamat Kecil community hall.

Five people from Mukim Buluh Kasap were moved to the Kampung Spang Loi community hall, two were moved to the Kampung Mengsudut Lama community hall and 15 in Pagoh were moved to the Pagoh Penghulu Complex.

The Jalan Jabi-Bukit Tempurong in Segamat was also cut off by flood, said the control centre.

In Pahang, 10,837 people were still staying at 51 relief centres compared to 11,697 people last night.

A Pahang Contingent Flood Operations Room spokesman said the most number of flood victims were in Pekan (6,387), Maran (2,354), Kuantan (1,005), Temerloh (572), Rompin (472) and Bera (47).

In Kelantan, the number of evacuees had dropped to 2,372 people compared to 2,440 people last night involving 512 families placed at 27 centres.

According to the statistics of the Kelantan National Security Council (MKN), they were in Gua Musang (1,157), Kuala Krai (1,022), Machang (100) and Tanah Merah (93).

In Perak, the number of flood victims dropped to 2,805 people from 3,424 people while all the relief centres in Kuala Kangsar were closed.

A Perak MKN spokesman said, to date, only 15 centres were still open, namely, in Hulu Perak (117), Perak Tengah (2,053), Manjung (155) and Hilir Perak (480).

Meanwhile, in Terengganu, the number of evacuees remained at 28 from seven families as of last night, who were staying at the 14th mile Kampung Kuala Tayor community hall and mosque.
