KEMAMAN, Jan 1 ― An allocation of RM132 million is needed to repair roads damaged by the floods in Terengganu, Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman.
He said the cost, assessed by the Public Works Department, included RM108 million for repair of federal roads and RM24 million for state roads.
“Most of the roads are in the districts of Kemaman and Dungun,” he told reporters after the presentation of flood aid by Felcra Berhad and several companies here today.
Also present were Terengganu State Secretary Datuk Osman Muda, Felcra chairman Felcra Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin and Felcra chief executive officer Ramlee Abu Bakar.
On a flood mitigation project, Ahmad Razif said the project would cost about RM400 million and that a study would have to be carried out before it could be implemented.
He said the government was now focusing on the process of cleaning areas affected by the floods and providing aid to the flood victims.
At the event, Felcra contributed RM500,000, Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (RM200,000), Terengganu Inc (RM100,000), Telekom Malaysia (TM) (RM50,000), while mamee-Double Decker and several companies contributed food and other essential items. ― Bernama
