The volunteers included Umno Youth and the Terengganu People’s Transformation Agency (ATRA) members in Kuala Berang, members of SKTAI Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and trainees from the National Service Training Programme at Kem Chenderawasih, Cador Marang.

They were assisted by firemen from the Kuala Berang Fire and Rescue station.        

SKTAI headmaster Ayub Kassim said the school was submerged in almost three metres of flood water, causing damage to the first floor of the three-storey school building, besides the furniture, like tables and chairs, and textbooks.

“The silt from the flood was so thick that it would not be possible for the school PTA alone to clean it,” he told Bernama here today.
