KANGAR, Dec 28 — Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has agreed to reschedule the final examination, which starts tomorrow, for students who are stranded in their villages due to the floods.
Its deputy vice-chancellor (Academic and International), Prof Datuk Dr Zul Azhar Zahid Jamal said the special consideration was given as many of the students who had returned home, especially in the East Coast states, were still stranded in the flood-hit areas.
“We will hold the examination for them when the situation has returned to normal,” he said in a statement, here, today.
“They should not be unduly worried about the rescheduled final exam but to focus on their safety and their family’s back home,” he added.
Floods have hit the East Coast and some other states in the peninsula, causing tens of thousands of victims to be evacuated over the last few days.
Zul Azhar said UniMAP students stranded due to the floods were advised to contact its flood operations room at 04-9797777 to provide personal details and current status, or the Security Department at 04-979 8181/8571 or Students Representative Council’s (MPP) Welfare exco member (Hafizan) at 017-3329655. — Bernama
