KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 ― A senator today proposed that the Communications and Multimedia Ministry set up a Siamese radio and TV channel to provide information to the community in the country.
Senator Datuk Boon Som Inong said the people of Thai origin living in Malaysia can also follow and monitor the development in neighbouring Thailand through the channels.
“The Siamese community living in border towns of Malaysia regularly listen to Siamese channels from Thailand and they are better equipped with information and happenings in Thailand than in Malaysia.
“So, if there is a Siamese radio channel here, the Siamese community here can follow the development in Thailand as well as here,” he said when debating the Supply Bill 2015 which allows an allocation of RM50.5 billion to various ministries and government departments for development expenditure next year. ― Bernama
