KOTA KINABALU, Oct 1 — A luxury hilltop condominium unit in the city has been used as a drug den for the last three months, storing some RM71,000 worth of recreational drugs, including what is believed to be a new form of designer drug — green “liquid ecstasy”.
Police acting on information, raided the apartment on Sunday and found 54 bottles of the green liquid, 1,350 eramin-5 pills, 350 ecstasy pills, 168 capsules of ecstasy, 81 plastic packets of ecstasy powder and one packet of syabu.
“The green bottles are believed to be liquid with ecstasy content, a new variation of the designer drug, believed to be the first seizure in Malaysia. It is believed to be a stronger form of ecstasy and the liquid is ready to be consumed,” said State Narcotics Department chief Superintendent Abdul Rahim Dolmat, adding that they have sent samples to the Chemistry Department for verification.
The raid was following the arrest of a 29-year-old Sarawakian along Jalan Gaya, who was believed to have been selling drugs at several entertainment spots in the city.
“We raided his car, a Myvi but did not find any drugs. The suspect later led us to the condominium along Tanjung Lipat,” said Abdul Rahim at a press conference here earlier today.
Police searched the hilltop condominium unit and found the drugs hidden in the ceiling boards in the kitchen.
Rahim said the drugs were believed to be smuggled in from Sarawak by land, and the rented condominium unit was used as a base to store and package the drugs before sale.
NOTE: A previous version of this story had erroneously stated the number of bottles of green liquid seized as 540, which has since been corrected. The error is regretted.
