KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 — Searchers may be forced to adjust their hunt for Flight MH370 after fruitless forays underwater, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said today while renewing vows to keep scouring the Indian Ocean until the plane is found.
He was concurring with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott’s assessment on the looming need to reconsider methods currently being used to locate the plane that went missing on March 8 with 239 people on board.
“I totally agree with Prime Minister Abbott when he said there will come a time when we need to regroup and reconsider but the search will always continue, it’s just a matter of approach,” he told reporters at the Putra World Trade Centre after giving his closing speech at the Global Defence Services and Government Security Event.
This comes as Abbott said the best leads in the underwater search for the Boeing 777 plane will be exhausted in about a week.
“We believe that search will be completed within a week or so. If we don’t find wreckage, we stop, we regroup, we reconsider,” Abbott was quoted as saying.
