KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 — A non-governmental organisation (NGO) comprising members from three countries — Malaysia, China and Indonesia — along with the Scouts Association of Malaysia will hold two fund-raising dinners to help the families of passengers of the missing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight MH370, as well as a number of welfare homes and scout associations. 

Malaysia, China and Indonesia (MCI) Muslim Cultural and Econtrade vice-chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Shukor Mohsin said the events would be held at the Royale Bintang Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on April 21 and the Palace of the Golden Horses in Seri Kembangan, Selangor on April 24.

The dinner in Negeri Sembilan will be graced by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, while Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and his wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman, as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia, Huang Hui Kang, and the Indonesian Ambassador here, Herman Prayitno, are expected to attend the dinner in Seri Kembangan, he told a media conference here today.

He said about 500 seats were now open for booking starting from RM1,500 to RM10,000, while table reservations for the event in Seri Kembangan would start at RM2,000 (for 10 persons) and RM15,000 (for eight persons).

Abdul Shukor said personal and corporate donations could also be made by sending cheques to CIMB Islamic account at 8600446004 on the name of MCI Muslim Cultural and Econtrade Berhad, while further information could be obtained by calling 017-3332431/013-3362431 (Seremban) and 03-89464888/03-89432666 (Selangor).

Flight MH370, carrying 227 passengers and 12 crew, left the KL International Airport at 12.41am on March 8 and disappeared from radar screens about an hour later while over the South China Sea. It was to have landed in Beijing at 6.30am on the same day.

On March 24, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that Flight MH370 “ended in the southern Indian Ocean” and the multinational search for the aircraft continues there. — Bernama
