KUANTAN, March 25 ― “I do not know what to say, I am very sad to hear the announcement,” said Normah Jaafar, the mother of Khairul Amri Selamat, one of the passengers on the ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
Normah, in her 50s, when contacted after the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, could not contain her emotion and cried non-stop, thinking of the tragedy which befell her son.
However, Normah she expressed her appreciation to the media as many journalists had contacted her to express their sympathy.
Normah who resides in Taman Kerayong Makmur, here was unable to continue the conversation as she was still emotional and sad.
It is understood that the mother of the aviation engineer would leave for Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning to find out more about the tragedy.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, some of the family members housed at the Hotel Bangi-Putrajaya could not hold back their tears while others were hysterical after hearing the announcement.
One woman was heard screaming: "I want my son back...he died too young."
Some of the family members had to be assisted by volunteers and MAS officials who were placed at the hotel where about 20 family members of passengers, all from China, were staying. ― Bernama
