LANGKAWI, March 15 — Three Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) vessels take turn to scour the Straits of Malacca in the ensuing search for the missing Malaysian Airlines (MAS) jetliner.
An MMEA officer said the round the clock operation by the vessels covered six sectors in the waters north of the Straits of Malacca.
“Despite the search for flight MH370, the MMEA operation in the Straits of Malacca goes on as usual,” he told reporters on board an MMEA vessel involved in the operation in the Straits of Malacca today.
Twenty-four members of the media, including two from Guangzhou, China, were taken around Pulau Perak, about 60 nautical miles off Bukit Malut here.
The aircraft, which carried 227 passengers and 12 crew to Beijing, was reported missing an hour after departing from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 12.41am on Saturday.
