SEPANG, March 7 — Family members of passengers on-board MH370 say they have been told to ready their passports and prepare to be taken to the plane’s site, even as officials continue to deny knowledge of its whereabouts.

“We’ve been told by Malaysian Airlines (MAS) to get our passports and that two family members of the victims will be taken to the site. We need to be at the holding area before 6pm,” a man whose brother was onboard, told The Malay Mail.

Several other family members, when approached, said they were similarly informed.

However, there has not been any announcement by MAS. Efforts to obtain confirmation from the airline also proved futile.

Earlier, acting Transport Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein told the press authorities were still verifying with the Vietnam Navy over a report that a plane has crashed in the Gulf of Thailand, some 250km south of Phu Quoc island.

MAS has also now barred members of the media from entering it headquarters in Subang Jaya.

A MAS official, who refused to be identified, said all updates regarding the plane will be made at the press conference in Sepang.
