PETALING JAYA, Feb 28 — Indonesian police are still investigating the identity of the maid known only as Agnes, who committed suicide after murdering stepbrothers Koay Jia Hong, five, and 18-months-old Melvin Selvan Joseph on Tuesday evening.
Indonesian police attaché to Malaysia Aby Nursetyanto said they have acquired the help of Indonesian media to broadcast the incident, and have requested for anyone with information on the maid to come forward and assist police with the identification.
“We have tried searching her name inside our system, but there are just to many Agneses in the country,” he said.
Aby said the embassy also requested for the maid's mobile number and a picture of her from local police.
“Once we have the number, we can trace calls she has been making to Indonesia. That would help us locate people who have been in contact with her and find out the reason behind the double murder,” he said.
“We will also publish her photo as soon as it is provided to us. The Indonesian media has also agreed to assist us in our investigations.”
“The boys' death was a tragedy which could have been avoided, if proper care had been exercised.”
Meanwhile, Sungai Buloh police chief Supt Junaidi Bujang said police have recorded statements from family members and neighbours.
“The parents will also be called up by the Immigration department for questioning in relation to their harbouring of an illegal maid, “ he said.
