KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 6 — Terengganu is on the alert for floods as rivers in several areas have exceeded the warning level.  Terengganu National Security Council (MKN) secretary Mohd Sarif Hassan said the water level at the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS) station at Sekolah Menengah Badrul Alam Shah, Kemaman had exceeded the danger level, and was at the warning level in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.

Based on the Meteorological Department forecast, MKN is expecting five flood waves to hit Terengganu starting this month until March next year, compared to only three flood waves in the last monsoon season, he told a media conference here today.

He said the forecast was based on the torrential rain conditions and high tide phenomenon.
