KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19 — Two leaders of Gang 04 and one from Gang 08 surrendered to the police after their names were made public in the media recently.

Perak deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk A. Paramasivam said they surrendered to him personally at the police headquarters on Monday and Tuesday.

“The three were detained for police investigations before being released on bail,” he said after attending the monthly police gathering at the state police headquarters.

The Home Ministry had earlier this month named some 30 leaders from Gang 04, 06 and 36.

The names included Tiram Sasi (Johor), Sungai Way Sugu (Kuala Lumpur), Prai Bala (Penang), Langkap Sasi (Perak) from Gang 04; Indren (Penang), Dark (Kuala Lumpur), Siva Guru (Kuala Lumpur) from Gang 08; Cendol Kanna (Kuala Lumpur), Devan (gang leader in Kuala Lumpur and millionaire drug trafficker) and Kajang Kalai from Gang 36.

Paramasivam also said police arrested a 56-year-old fish breeder in Gerik on Tuesday after they found two homemade air rifles in his house.

Acting on information, a police team from the district’s Criminal Investigation Department raided the house in Kampung Pahat Dalam at 1.30am.

“Police interrogated the suspect who was at home and conducted a search before finding the firearms, hidden beneath a toilet door at the back of the house,” he said.

“The fish breeder claimed the firearms were meant for self-protection.”

The suspect has been remanded for five days under Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 which carries a maximum penalty of seven years jail or fine not exceeding RM10,000 or both upon conviction.

Paramasivam said police werel investigating if the firearms had been used to commit crimes.
