KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 — Four of eight victims of the Genting Highlands bus tragedy who were treated at the Selayang Hospital, have been moved to two other hospitals.

Selayang Hospital director Dr Siti Zaleha Mohd Salleh said Nur Shamimi Jaafar, 25, was transferred to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan about 2pm yesterday, as "she wanted to be in the place of her birth".

She said three other victims, Rashidah Buyah, 50, and her two children, Raawnok Arefin, 14, and Reyzan Arefin, 24, were moved to the Prince Court Medical Centre here at 10.15pm yesterday.

"They were Canadian citizens of Bangladeshi origin," she said when contacted by Bernama today.

According to Dr Siti Zaleha, four other victims of the bus tragedy, who were still at the Selayang Hospital, were placed in normal wards and were reported to be stable.

The bus which plunged into a 60-metre deep ravine at 3.5km Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, left 37 people, including its driver, dead while 16 were hurt.

As of this afternoon, the bodies of seven victims which were placed at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary had yet to be claimed.

A hospital spokesman, when contacted by Bernama, said the body of an African woman was among the seven.

He said five other victims undergoing treatment at the hospital were in stable condition.

He said another victim, an Indonesian national, Suryadi Budiarto, 52, who was treated at the Bentong Hospital in Pahang, was discharged today. — Bernama
