PUTRAJAYA, Aug 24 — Some 1,500 students from 36 schools under the Selangor Education Department (JPN) will take part in a human graphics performance featuring 16 songs at the 2026 National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya here on August 31.
Education Ministry Sports, Co-curriculum and Arts Division director Ithnin Mahadi said the songs would be divided into four categories, namely patriotic, ethnic, state-themed and Gen Z, offering a diverse mix of genres and presentation styles.
“The team has been training since July, starting with separate sessions at their respective schools before coming together at the performance venue,” he told reporters here today.
He said rehearsals had entered the final phase, with the students now training at the venue to fine-tune their movements, formations and coordination ahead of the performance.
Ithnin said one of the main highlights of this year’s performance would be the combination of creative hand movements and kompang beats, incorporating percussion elements performed by participants from various ethnic backgrounds.
“The different rhythms are brought together as one, symbolising Malaysia’s diverse society, with its many cultures and traditions, yet able to move together as one.
“The performance will also feature word and image graphics conveying messages of unity, harmony and living together, in line with this year’s National Day theme, ‘Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati’,” he said.
Ithnin said the human formations on the field would portray a united Malaysia in diversity, with each ethnic group retaining its own identity and heritage before coming together to form a larger picture of a harmonious, inclusive and prosperous Malaysia. — Bernama
