IPOH, May 28 — The Mini Carnival exhibition held in conjunction with National Journalists’ Day (Hawana) 2023 at Mydin Meru here for two days starting yesterday was well-received as it gave visitors the opportunity to obtain various information and participate in fun activities.

Over 5,000 visitors, especially those who came with their families, took part in the contests and games organised by several government and private agencies.

Present to enliven the carnival today were Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil and his deputy Teo Nie Ching, who arrived accompanied by Malaysian National New Agency (Bernama) chief executive officer, Roslan Ariffin and Head of Broadcasting (TV and Radio), D Arul Rajoo.

The public also took the opportunity to take photos with Fahmi and Teo who took the time to mingle with the crowd as they visited the booths at the mini carnival.

A trader, Tan Lim Ho, 45, said he was thrilled as this is his first visit to an exhibition related to news broadcasting stations.

“This is my first time at an exhibition like this. I always see it only on TV, I visited the exhibition at Media Sarawak booth, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Bernama,” he said.

Meanwhile, factory worker Hamidah Jalil, 49, who lives nearby said she was excited when she saw several buntings along the road and immediately made plans not to miss the event.

“After my grocery shopping, I stopped by the exhibition to see what activities my children could participate in and seek information from the agencies involved,” she said.

Bernama, Department of Information Malaysia, RTM, Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Tourism Perak are among the 14 government and private agencies participating in the carnival.

Also involved are Sarawak Media, The Vibes.Com & Getaran.My, Cybersecurity Malaysia, Personal Data Protection Department, Darul Ridzuan Institute, Selama District Council, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and PerakFM.

The date May 29 was gazetted as National Journalists’ Day and it was chosen in conjunction with the publication of the first edition of the Malay newspaper, Utusan Melayu on May 29, 1939. — Bernama
