KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 — If you’re stuck on where to take your little princess this school holidays, we just might have some inspiration on where you can head to that will feature the beloved doll of many — Barbie!

Mattel South-east Asia is set to present the Barbie: World of Endless Possibilities Exhibition at Sunway Pyramid beginning June 6 till 12 with the aim of inspiring the next generation of girls.

“When a young girl plays in an imaginary world, she becomes a mom, a doctor, a mermaid, an astronaut, a world traveller, a caregiver, a leader — no matter where you are in the world, we see that imaginary world come alive when she plays with Barbie,” said Mattel Southeast Asia country manager Petrina Kho.

“Barbie is created with the philosophy that girls can be anything. This exhibition is our way to inspire that imagination.”

The exhibit, that will beautifully showcase the history of the global icon, will feature an extensive display of over 200 Barbie dolls through immersive installations, accompanied by interactive workshops for children.

Barbie certainly has come a long way since her first world debut at the Toy Fair in New York in February 1959 and visitors can follow that journey through six themes that will be featured at the exhibition.

“Barbie Then And Now” will chronicle the doll’s evolution into a legend and an icon for every girl. “Barbie Around The World” will show you how she has managed to imprint herself into pop culture and societies around the world. “Barbie Careers” will showcase some of the over 155 inspiring careers she has held, from exploring space travel to running for president.

Believe it or not, Barbie has also worked with more fashion designers than any other person in the world and this will be showcased in “Barbie The Muse”. “The Evolution Of Barbie” will highlight how she has evolved with the times, becoming more diverse by introducing varieties in body types, skin tones and style. Lastly, “Barbie’s Imagination” will showcase some of her wildest adventures that will remind us to dream big and strive for the best.

That’s not all, if you’ve been excited about Barbie’s Fashionistas line that was announced earlier this year, you’ll be glad to know that the 23 new dolls will be on display at the exhibition — and you can even get your hands on your own doll to add to your collection there.

The Fashionista dolls feature three new body types — tall, curvy and petite — with seven skin tones, 22 eye colours, 24 hairstyles and countless on-trend fashions and accessories.

The Barbie: World of Endless Possibilities Exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 10pm daily at Sunway Pyramid’s Orange Concourse. For more details on the workshops and activities that will be held, visit barbie.mattel.my or www.facebook.com/officialbarbiemalaysia.
