SINGAPORE, March 30 — Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo is expanding its empire with the opening of its first Global Flagship Store in Singapore and South-east Asia, at Orchard Central in the latter half of the year, the brand announced today (March 29).
The Singapore Global Flagship Store will take up approximately 2,700 sqm across three levels in the mall and join the ranks of other Uniqlo Global Flagship stores such as the ones at New York’s Fifth Avenue, London’s Oxford Street, and Ginza in Tokyo.
Other than showcasing the latest lines for women, men, children and babies, the new flagship store will also offer the brand’s most extensive range of products in Singapore.
“We are very honoured and excited to open our first Uniqlo Global Flagship Store in Singapore,” said Taku Morikawa, Uniqlo CEO for South-east Asia. “Having been a member of the local retail scene since 2009, we remain committed towards contributing to the local community and being an integral part of Singapore’s growth and future.”
Word of a flagship store opening at Orchard Central had been swirling since it was reported last December that previous Orchard Central tenants such as popular eatery EWF were told to relocate to make way for an “international retail brand”.
Uniqlo currently has 24 stores in Singapore, including one at the building next to Orchard Central, 313 Somerset. — TODAY
