MOSCOW, Oct 2 — An artist has created what he has called the biggest calligraphy artwork in the world, by spending two days painting with brooms on the roof of an old chocolate factory in Moscow, on September 19 and 20.
Calligraphy artist Pokras Lampas used 730 litres of white paint and four brooms to create the intricate design on the 1,625 square meter (5331 feet) roof.
It was all captured on camera by award-winning director and producer Sergey Valyaev who, alongside creative team Smokin' Heroes, showed Lampas using his buckets and brooms to cover the roof in his designs.
The work was part of the modern art movement 'Calligraffiti' which blends calligraphy and graffiti.
It was founded by Dutch visual artist Niels Shoe Meulman and it now has 25 international ambassadors, Valyaev said.
The Red October building, near the centre of Moscow, was a chocolate factory up until 2007 when it became a location for bars, restaurants, galleries and clubs.
Lampas said having finished the Red October project he cannot wait to begin another piece which he hopes will be even larger. — Reuters
