SAN FRANCISCO, Sept 1 — PayPal has released a new PayPal Money Habits Study, showing that adults across varying regions are owed an average of US$450 (RM1,886) from friends and family.

The study, which surveyed 4,000 consumers from the US, Canada, Germany and Australia, showed that one-third of adults had ruined a relationship over loaned money.

The PayPayl study estimates that adults are owed a global total of US$51 billion, with most avoiding asking for payment due to the awkward nature of such conversations.

Digital or mobile payment systems were becoming more popular, according to the study, while using checks were on the decline. Cash remains the favoured payment method among those surveyed. — AFP-Relaxnews
