WARSAW, Aug 9 — Man’s best friend isn’t always treated as such. But these dogs are out to change that.

Prisoners convicted of animal cruelty offenses in Poland are learning how to care for, and train, these shelter dogs.

With the three-month programme wrapping up, this inmate says he hopes his new buddy will be adopted by a kind family.

Now these aren’t puppies... they’re raccoon dog puppies — nine of which were born at a Mexican zoo in April.

They made their public debut this week at the only zoo in Latin America to house the animals.

Also in Mexico, two rare jaguar cubs are showing off their spots and appearing quite content with their residency at an animal reserve.

These goats are fenced in too, but they’re free to roam within the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.

For two weeks, the goats will gobble up the invasive species here, and presumably eliminate the need for harmful herbicides. How’s that for a freelance gig?
