GEORGE TOWN, July 18 — A suited torso with the head of a rooster aptly titled Talk Cock by local artist Sliz.
A large surrealistic oil painting of a girl sitting on a rainbow flanked by two toddlers titled Witnessed Salvation by another local artist, Renny Cheng.
Then there are Ernest Zacharevic’s pieces, featuring his signature portraits of people, on various “canvases” including a wooden door and a metal door.
These art pieces are now on display at the Ernest Zacharevic X E&O Gallery’s inaugural art exhibition entitled Ayam What Ayam curated by the famous Lithuanian artist himself.
The exhibition, which kicked off on May 29, features about 40 small and large pieces of works by 18 local and international artists.
The artists include the likes of Addison Karl from Denmark, Arthur Sirin from Lithuania, Gabriel Pitcher from UK, Sabek from Spain, Ammar Khalifa and local artists such as Tan Kai Sheuan, Low Chee Peng, Renny Cheng, Bibichun, Donald Abraham and Fauzan Fuad.
The group exhibition features a mix of surrealistic, urban and contemporary works while some pieces, particularly by local artists, have strong messages about local issues.
The gallery is located on the Victory Annexe of the Eastern and Oriental Hotel and it is open daily except for Tuesdays and public holidays.
The exhibition, which is until July 27, is supported by E&O Hotel and Uber.
