LOS ANGELES, June 28 — Eric Joe hadn’t thought his homemade drone would put his neighbor on high alert. He found out the hard way after it was downed by a shotgun blast.
Eric Joe told Ars Technica that he was flying the drone over his parents’ orchard for three-and-a-half minutes before it was shot down.
His neighbor Brett McBay refused to cover the costs leading to Joe taking McBay to small claims court where the court declared that “Mr. McBay acted unreasonably in having his son shoot the drone down regardless of whether it was over his property or not.”
McBay has yet to pay the US$850 the court has ordered him to pay and Joe says he will take further action to collect the money if necessary.
