KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — Kudrat 1968: High Council has raked in RM3 million in advance ticket sales ahead of its nationwide cinema release tomorrow.
Astro Shaw announced the milestone on its official social media platforms last night, following strong demand for the film’s special screenings.
Tickets for the Malam Manifesto Kudrat 1968 gala premiere on October 26 reportedly sold out in less than an hour, while those for special fan screenings on October 31 were snapped up within five minutes of going on sale.
Fans also took to Instagram to celebrate the RM3 million milestone, with some joking about their contributions to the film’s advance sales.
One fan commented, “I’m one of the people who contributed to that RM3 million!” while another said, “The tickets sold out so quickly, and I was lucky enough to be one of those who got them.”
Another wrote, “Okay, I contributed by buying two tickets! Hahaha.
“If I have the money, I’ll go watch it again.”
Kudrat 1968 serves as a prequel to the acclaimed Project: High Council series, which debuted in 2023, and expands the franchise following Kahar: Kapla High Council.
The project adopts a two-format storytelling approach, with a four-episode series available on Astro and Netflix and a film serving as the story’s conclusion.
The film follows Abbas as he returns to Kudrat, only to discover that the school has been placed under lockdown by authorities following the discovery of a student’s death that had been concealed.
Its cast includes Zarif Ghazzi as Abbas, Mierul Aiman as Kuda, Akmal Asyraf as Piji, Dai Fuad as Pa, Evertts Gomes as Ghafar and Chech Harith as Mazli.
Produced by Astro Shaw, Kudrat 1968: High Council opens in Malaysian cinemas on October 29.
