KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 8 — Concertgoers to Taiwanese singer A-Mei's recent concerts in Beijing were told to remove items related to the rainbow flag.

Many took to social media to share how they were forced to change their clothes if it had rainbow colours.

Even bags with rainbow ribbons were barred from being brought into the venue, ET Today reported.

Apart from banning items related to rainbows, one of the singer's iconic song Cai Hong (Rainbow) was also removed from the play list during her two-day concerts on August 5 and 6 that were held at Cadillac Centre.

The rainbow flag, or the Pride flag is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) social movements.

Bloomberg News reported that a security guard at the venue asked one concert goer to turn his shirt inside out, as a rainbow had been drawn on the front.

Another attendee was asked to change out of a shirt with a rainbow print into black clothing provided by the guards.

Asia One had previously reported that during her concert in Singapore last month, a security guard stopped fans from holding up the rainbow flag during A-Mei's performance of Cai Hong.

A-Mei is scheduled to perform at the Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on August 26.
