PARIS, Oct 11 — Who is Marine Le Pen, really?
The tough as nails leader of the far-right National Front party in France — or the traumatised daughter of one of the party’s founders — her father Jean-Marie Le Pen.
A new satirical comic book takes a look at The Dark Side of Marine Le Pen.
It is co-written by Riss, an editor of France’s Charlie Hebdo magazine and his collaborator, Richard Malka.
Back in January 2015, Riss was among those injured when Islamist militants opened fire inside the Charlie Hebdo offices. 12 people were killed in the attack.
Riss and Malka say the Le Pen project was good for them.
"I enjoy this project because it has brought us back to real life. Life has come back, we got on top of the project and we did it. It wasn’t easy but we did it,” says Richard Malka, co-author of comic book The Dark Side of Marine Le Pen.
"It helped us look towards the future, and to look towards 2017 and what was going to happen. The book is a bit of a projection, we are imagining something that may happen, and maybe that’s what we needed personally. To turn ourselves towards the future,” says Riss.
But the future might not include a Le Pen presidency — as French opinion polls do not favour her. — Reuters
