SYDNEY, Nov 15 — A localized online store with content from international and national authors, three Kindle devices and resale arrangements with the Dick Smith and Big W retail chains mark the opening of Amazon's latest Australian venture.

It's to highlight international hits as well as books especially relevant to an Australian readership, with Amazon drawing attention to cricketer Ricky Ponting's “At the Close of Play” and “Eyrie” by Australian author Tim Winton alongside Stephen King's latest and “Hard Luck: Diary of a Wimpy Kid.”

The Kindle Paperwhite eReader and Kindle Fire HD and HDX are being made available via Amazon's Australian website as well as its two nominated retail partners, with Kindle Direct Publishing also making a play for Australian authors and publishers. — AFP-Relaxnews
