PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 — Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Management Director Datuk Seri Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid has been appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police, effective September 9.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment was consented to by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the advice of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and upon the recommendation of the Police Force Commission, in accordance with Clauses 4 and 5 of Article 140 of the Federal Constitution.

“Abdul Aziz’s expertise and experience in policing, coupled with his strong leadership and competence, make him well suited to serve as Deputy Inspector-General of Police.

“The government congratulates him on his appointment,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Aziz, 59, was born in Penaga, Penang, on February 19, 1967, and holds a Master of Social Sciences (Police Studies) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

He joined the PDRM on July 1, 1995, and has served in various departments throughout his career, including the Management Department, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Commercial Crime Investigation Department, Logistics and Technology Department, and Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department.

Abdul Aziz has held several key positions, including Management Director, Deputy Director of Special Branch, Deputy Director of Narcotics, Penang Police Deputy Chief, Principal Assistant Director of Management Policy/Human Resource, and Principal Assistant Director of the Special Integrated Investigation Team.

He has also attended various international courses and seminars, including the 8th International Symposium of Best Police Practice in Dubai, and the Intelligence Management Development Programme in Australia. — Bernama
