KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) issued asset declaration notices to businessman Datuk Seri Nazir Hussin Akhtar Hussin and his brother, Datuk Mubarak Hussain, on October 20.

Nazir Hussin was at the MACC Office in Putrajaya to receive the notice under Section 36(1)(a) of the MACC Act 2009, while Mubarak Hussain received the notice at his residence.

When contacted, MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the matter, saying both individuals complied with the notices.

On October 14, the MACC summoned Nazir Hussin, his wife and an aide to assist in an investigation into alleged misappropriation and abuse of position involving an investment deal worth about RM10 million.

The MACC said it summoned the former Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) chairman to receive a notice requiring him to declare his assets, while his wife and the aide were summoned to record their statements.

Abd Halim was reported to have said that Nazir Hussin refused to accept the notice, citing an injunction application he had filed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court yesterday to stop enforcement of the directive issued under Section 36 of the Act. — Bernama
