Police investigate death of 13-year-old girl in Sungai Buloh, suspect abuse

KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — A 13-year-old girl was found dead at a residence in Sungai Buloh near here Wednesday.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Mohd Hafiz Muhammad Nor said police received information on the victim being found unconscious at 6.27 pm.

He said a medical officer from Sungai Buloh Hospital who arrived at the scene confirmed that the victim had died.

Mohd Hafiz said the body was later taken to the hospital’s Forensic Department for a post-mortem.

“Statements have been recorded from three witnesses and further investigations are ongoing,” he said in a statement last night.

He said that police have opened an investigation paper under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for alleged abuse, neglect, abandonment or exposure of a child in a manner likely to cause physical or emotional injury.
