Terengganu police: Baby girl dies in car at public university after dad forgets to drop off child at daycare

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 25 — A 16-month-old baby girl died after allegedly being left inside a car at a public university in the Kuala Nerus district yesterday.

Terengganu district police chief ACP Abd Rahim Md Din said that police received a report about the toddler who had died when brought to the student health centre at the university at about 4.30pm on October 24.

"A post-mortem was conducted at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah hospital, last night. The police are awaiting the report to find out the cause of death,” he said when contacted here today.

Abd Rahim said that the initial investigation revealed that the incident occurred after the baby’s father forgot to drop off his child at the university’s daycare centre in the morning.

An investigation paper was opened under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001. — Bernama
