KUALA LUMPUR, July 18 — The Rural and Regional Development Ministry (KKDW) is considering reviewing the salary scheme for educators at the MARA Institute of Education (IPMa), said Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
The deputy prime minister said that although their current salary scheme was similar to that of the Education Ministry, there were some loopholes that caused certain groups to be marginalised.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, said MARA chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has been entrusted with the responsibility to look into the matter.
"MARA chairman will assist me in this (and) as long as I am here, we will continue championing your struggles.
"I have issued an instruction on this matter but we have not held a meeting yet. Insya-Allah, I will follow up on this after (the state elections on) August 12,” he told a press conference after officiating at the 2023 MARA Educator Awards Day here today.
Also present were Asyraf Wajdi and MARA director-general Datuk Seri Azhar Abdul Manaf. — Bernama
