KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 — ChargEV has finally completed its Tangkak Pitstop upgrade just in time for the long weekend holiday season.

The charging hub has just completed its power supply upgrade and is now capable 400kW from the grid, shared across its 8 charging bays. This means no more worries about having just one nozzle working during peak seasons.

On top of that, they have also added a roof structure, making it convenient for EV owners to charge up weather it is rain or shine.

Deployed in January 2025, ChargEV’s Tangkak Pitstop is positioned as the first electric truck ready charging hub as it is located strategically between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur. Located less than a km away from Tangkak Toll Plaza, this is a strategic high-powered EV charging station that serves both northbound and southbound traffic.

It features a Kempower DC Charging solution that has a total of 8 nozzles in a petrol station style island layout. Even with the roof, ChargEV says it is still able to accommodate electric lorries.

These DC Chargers are priced at RM1.60 per kWh and you can activate them via ChargEV, JomCharge and Gentari Go.

When Tangkak Pitstop went live about 16 months ago, it was dependent on a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for power. With BESS, it acts as a buffer to enable high powered DC charging.

However, once the batteries are depleted, the charging power would be limited and charge points would be disabled. The BESS was meant to be a short-term solution while waiting for grid upgrades to be completed. — SoyaCincau
