LOS ANGELES, Sept 29 — Controversial YouTuber James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson or more known as Mr Beast just released his latest stunt challenge that involves US$500,000 (RM2.1 million) and a burning house.

In his YouTube video titled Would You Risk Dying For $500,000? Donaldson challenged a man known only as ‘Eric’ to undergo various trials by fire.

These were not metaphorical trials by fire but literal ones — they included jumping into a pool that had parts of it on fire, dodging fiery mandmade meteors and what has gone viral online: sitting in a house on fire.

The segment with the burning house sees Eric tied up and challenged to escape from his restrictions to grab the bags of money behind him before they go up in smoke.

At the end of the video, Eric then runs through a path lit up with flames while wearing a dampened wet suit.

Was it worth it? Eric supposedly earned US$350,000 in total and it is not known if he sustained any kind of injury during the shoot.

Donaldson in a pinned comment stated that his team took safety “extremely seriously.”

“Every challenge was tested by multiple stuntmen, we have a full rescue team on standbywith firefighters, EMTs and divers equipped with an ambulance and fire truck. We also had a pyro team controlling the fires and multiple fire suppression methods on every challenge to ensure we could essentially turn off the fire if there was ever an issue. But our stunt coordinator did an amazing job as always, and none of these systems were ever needed. Just wanted to be transparent with you all since I saw some concern!” he said.

Donaldson has come under scrutiny for his videos that offer up huge cash rewards for stunts.

He is currently facing a pending lawsuit over his Amazon Prime series Beast Games with contestants suing for alleged mistreatment and sexual harassment among other allegations.
